7 Things I Do, That Super Successful People Do Every Morning, Before 8am

Okay, we are half way through the year guys, yaaaaay! It's great because we can look back at all of our accomplishments thus far to be proud of. BUT we can also look at the glass half full and realize we only have half the year left to complete all of the goals, we said would get done. In my Power Planner Slay 365, it is my goal to help you plan and execute your goals by the end of the year!

So, you've decided that you want to be successful? Great, now what? What's next is the mindset to get the things that you have thought of in your mind to come true. In order for those things to come to fruition you have to really buckle down and get focused. By focused I don't mean just deleting your social media apps. I mean completely blocking out all distractions (mainly the people and circumstances that can potentially stress you out!) Check out my list below:

1. They Wake Up early

I live in California, so I am technically behind the rest of the word, so I have to get up as close to the time New Yorkers get up as possible, can't get left behind. In my research I found out that the really and I mean REALLY successful are up by 4:30/5:00 a.m. and in the office by 7/8:00 a.m. But there is a slew of things that they get done in those few hours before getting the day started. 90% of successful CEOs say they wake up before 6 a.m. on weekdays. PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, wakes up at 4 a.m. and is in the office no later than 7 a.m. while Disney CEO Bob Iger gets up at 4:30 to read, and Square CEO Jack Dorsey is up at 5:30 to jog. What are we waiting for!!

2. They Make Time To Exercise

Trust me, I know the struggle. I used to complain every day that "I was too busy to workout." That was a lie, I workout every day now, sometimes I have to wake up earlier than I want to, but I get it done. If you do not have a gym membership, check and see if your city has some stairs or a hiking trail to go on, or invest in a home DVD. I just bought the Ectorcise DVD and it is such a great morning workout in the event I can't make it to the gym!

3.They Eat A Healthy Breakfast

This is usually the hardest for me, since I wake up so early with so much to get done. I could easily look up and it's noon and I haven't eaten yet. Starbucks oatmeal was the only oatmeal I would eat in the morning, but think of the time and and money I was wasting every morning. Now I shop in advance and I make my own oatmeal and I get the Starbucks effect with Bear Naked granola (fav flavor is Triple Berry Crunch), or egg whites in the morning yum!

4. They Plan Their Day

This is soooooo very important. My head is comprised with a million lists of things to do. Most of which don't get done because they are in my head. I feel like the only things that TRULY get done are the things on my list that make it to an actual sheet of paper. Planning the day in advance, down to how much time of travel, gym, everything will make your day flow so much smoother. It also keeps you on track when those distractions come and want to interrupt your greatness. Benjamin Franklin said: “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” Amen!

5. They Visualize/Meditate

I am not a meditator but I do loooovveee to visualize. I speak and see things I want to happen, and patiently wait to receive the fruits of my labor. You have to see yourself doing the amazing things you thought would be cool. In my reading I've learned that by taking a few minutes to meditate each morning, you can set your mind and body up for success during the rest of the day. A friend of mine swears by this app for iPhone and Android called Headspace to help you meditate. Check it out here.

6. They Make Their Day Top Heavy

This means simply taking on priority projects first. That way instead of your day seeming to get harder, it gets easier the closer you get to the end of the day. Those quiet hours of the morning, when everyone is sleep would be the best time to focus on goals without any interruptions.

7. They Track Their Progress.

Eminem, Oprah Winfrey, and J.K Rowling all keep journals. They are able to keep track of their progress, set goals, reflect, and learn from their mistakes. They understand that they need a map to accomplish great things. Which is why Slay 365 is so important. It has a section where you can "Track Your Wins" and keep track of all of your amazing complishments.

8. Check Email/News

The key to this is to not get distracted. I started to limit the amount of time spent watching other peoples lives and I spend more time brainstorming and planning. When I wake up the first thing I do is check all of my social media but only for a moment in time. I check email, then I log in to social media to see if there are any important birthdays, who announced their pregnancy, who just got engaged, what Facebook rant made it's way to the top of my Timeline, how the party went last night on Snapchat, then I zone in to creative mode. The main reason is because the longer I stay on, the more opportunity I give someone to "look" like they are making more waves then me. It resonates in your subconscious when someone is achieving greatness, sometimes it takes control of your mind as if you are not doing great things also. Can't compare my chapter 2 to someone else's chapter 10.

7. They Are Grateful

When my feet hit the floor I take one foot and say "Thank" and when the other hits the floor I say "You." Nothing comes easy and with much reward comes lots of hard work. It's important to give thanks each morning to the influential pieces to your puzzle!
